What is TalletusOtto?
TalletusOtto is a machine where you can deposit cash. The deposited money is immediately visible in the account linked to your card. The machine can be used by both private individuals and small business owners, and therefore complements banks’ cash services with extended service hours. All TalletusOtto machines also offer the standard Otto ATM services: cash withdrawals, balance enquiries, and transaction history.
How does a TalletusOtto machine work?
Making a deposit at a TalletusOtto machine is easy. The device guides the user step by step:
- Insert your chip card. Select “Debit” if you are using a combined card.
- Enter your PIN.
- Select Deposit*
- Remove your card.
- Insert banknotes into the banknote slot and coins into the coin slot.
- After depositing coins, remember to check the coin return tray.
- Take the receipt.
* The Deposit option is shown only for cards from banks participating in the service. Deposits are not possible with a credit card or by selecting Credit on a combined card.
After selecting “Insert banknotes,” insert the notes as a neat stack into the same slot used for withdrawals. The banknotes must not include coins or any other objects, such as paper clips or rubber bands.
After selecting “Insert coins,” pour the coins into a separate coin slot. After the deposit, check the coin return tray. No banknotes or other objects may be included. To ensure this, we recommend placing the coins in a transparent plastic bag first, making it easy to identify and remove any extra objects before inserting them into the machine.
What cash can be deposited into TalletusOtto?
TalletusOtto accepts all official euro banknotes (€5–500) and euro coins (1 cent – €2).
If the machine returns money as rejected, try inserting it again. By using only intact and clean money and removing any objects or debris, you ensure smooth operation.
Euro banknotes that cannot be reliably identified as genuine are handled separately in accordance with European Central Bank regulations. These are checked manually at a cash processing center and credited later if appropriate.
TalletusOtto does not accept foreign currencies or collectible or special coins (e.g. commemorative regional coins), and will return them to the customer.
Which bank cards can be used for deposits?
The deposit service currently works with Debit cards from Danske Bank, Nordea, OP, Aktia, POP Banks, Savings Banks (including Oma Savings Bank), and S-Bank (from March 5, 2026).
The service works with chip cards that have a Debit function, including Visa Electron and combined cards. Deposits are not possible with credit cards or by selecting Credit on a combined card.
The standard Otto ATM services are available on TalletusOtto machines with cards from all banks.
How much can be deposited?
The maximum single deposit for banknotes is 100 notes or €5,000, but your bank may have set a lower limit.
Coins can be deposited in an amount that fits into the coin tray in one pour. The exact amount depends on the size of the coins. The minimum deposit is one 1-cent coin.
What does using TalletusOtto cost?
TalletusOtto provides services to customers of different banks. Each bank sets its own pricing and publishes service fees in its own price list.
How is security ensured at TalletusOtto machines?
TalletusOtto machines are highly secure. They are located in well-lit areas and are monitored by cameras. Banknotes can be inserted as a bundle and are quickly secured inside the machine. The customer is identified using a chip card, and deposits are always credited to the account linked to the card.
The machines are significantly more advanced in terms of security technology than traditional night deposit boxes.
Where can I find the nearest TalletusOtto machine?
TalletusOtto machines are located in shopping centres, large supermarkets, and bank self-service areas across the country. Exact locations can be found using the search services at otto.fi.
How are money laundering and counterfeiting addressed?
The customer is identified with a chip card, and the machines are equipped with camera surveillance. Deposits are always credited to an account linked to the card. To prevent money laundering, banks monitor their customers’ transactions as a whole.
The machines perform authenticity and quality checks on money before crediting it, in accordance with European Central Bank standards. Banknotes that cannot be reliably identified as genuine are set aside and checked at a cash processing centre.
What should I do if the machine does not issue a receipt or if there is another problem?
For questions related to account or deposit transactions, errors, or complaints, contact your own bank.
Machine faults can be reported via the form on the Contact information page.
